It's the Easter Holidays and I'm happy. I think, so far, I've spent a lot of it doing productive things.
- Learning how to use FinalCut Express and recording the first episode of my new video podcast
- Helping my grandfather with some things around his garden (in fact I'm going back there this weekend to do some more stuff)
- I've also being blogging a lot more! Admittedly not here. My main technology and thoughts blog is over at http://jonathandavies.org.uk - please tell me what you think!
- Earning some more money. I've entered a point where I am a bit loose on change so I've been enjoying some of the reasonably good weather, and especially good weather over the last few days, doing some work for him as well.
- I'm also kind of looking forward to returning to school. Even though I've still got just under two weeks left. I kind of wish I'd brought back more work to do. I guess it's one of these holidays where I feel that I want to work - I just hope I can keep it up when I return to school.

Over the past few weeks I have had the chance to play around with the Wacom Intuos 3, I have been planning to get a Bamboo for a while now but I would prefer to get photoshop first. I was lent the Wacom Intous 3 and have enjoyed it and actually found it as a feasible mouse replacement in some cases. I have played on it in Photoshop and Pixelmator, and have to say it really does do a great job and the pressure sensitivity is really effective.

The Tablet has buttons down each side and a thin, long, trackpad used for scrolling which I found to be ineffective. The
buttons we not much use earthier the only one I used was the
scroll one which let you scroll on the main trackpad. The pen was comfortable and nicely shaped for a hand, the secondary click button was well placed but high up the same button was the double click whic h was hard to use and just seemed to be in the wrong place. The drivers are really useful and allow you to program (almost) any function to a button on the tablet or the pen. I did not have the mouse that come with the tablet, but to be honest I don't think you need one you could spend most of your time using the tablet itself as a mouse.

Over the past few day I have been trying to perfect some small areas of my theme (you know how can never just be happy but always have to tweek) and some have been challenging, and I have searched the internet up and down and some I could not find the answers for on one site I had to make a mix match bit of code to fix things. If you look around you may find some of these changes but I will point them out and say how I did them.
Title
This is the most notable change, the title is now in the top bar and the date has been reformatted to a shorter form.
![]()
Here we came across some problems because we wanted half the font to go left and the other half right, our solution was to put it in two separate div's, but then we came across the problem of in some browsers div go on to separate line. We found this very clever bit of trickery that give one a margin and a width and this seem so fix it. I wanted to shorten the date's formate and that was pretty obvious how to do just google it. Just to help you understand here is the code.
CSS (just add the CSS you don't need to change any)

Old Index page code

New Index page code

Old Singe page code

New Singe page code

As you can see there was a lot to that.
Comments
In my comments I have finally managed to implement code that highlights the authors comments. I found it hard to find stuff to work with my theme. If you search google you will find hundreds of tutorial on how to highlight the post authors comments but none seemed to work with my theme, but I found a way around it. Again I will show you the code to help you understand what I did. If you are not using a Cutline theme I would suggest using this tutorial.Old Comments PHP
New Comments PHP

Flickr
The final thing that I changed was the Flickr style, Originally the Flickr images I have in my sidebar had coloured borders with a change when you hover over. To do this I use the linked image style in my CSS, but I shortly found this would affect the whole site, and had to change it back. There is actually a specific way to do it. I will show you the code in the hope that it helps. (I use a plug in to get them in my side bar click link)

Well that is basically it, I had fun doing it although it did get frustrating at times and I have learnt a lot since I did it. Hope if anyone is looking for help this does that. I guess that is it bye.
